Kjo took the Yash Chopra heroine and killed her in act one. KKHH maximized the Betty-Veronica trope. College hotties used to be vamps or snobbish bitches who had to be brought down to the ground by the hero - Kjo flips this with Tina being hot and sanskaari and shaming Rahul for his judgemental ways. In K3G and SOTY he reverted to the college hottie being silly and snobbish even, but glad he gave Tina a lot more depth and grace, like a Yash Chopra heroine.

1998 was the year of Salman khan because he had 4 hits more than Shahrukh who had only Kuch Kuch hota hai. His 4 hits were Kuch kuch hota hai Pyar kiya toh Darna kya Jab Pyar kisise hota hai Bandhan Infact 1999 was an absolute Salman year with BiwiNo1, Jaanam Samjha karo, Hum dil de chuke Sanam and Hum saath saath hai.

Nothing more cinematic and exhilarating than SRK in his long coat jacket hurtling down the summer camp bridge and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram is amping up, and Anjali is doing anjali in the puja with the whole camp audience, and it builds and builds till he bursts in. That’s the scene i go back to, to remember the highs that we love to expect from Bollywood movies, the dramatic flourish which is Bollywood’s language. Imran’s story about him and Minissha Lamba reminds me of _Back to the Future,_ in which Biff starts to assault Lorraine in the car during the high school dance (back in 1955). Apparently, the actor playing Biff, Thomas F. Wilson (who is an extremely kind man in real life) was so uncomfortable filming that scene, and Lea Thompson’s performance felt so real to him, that he felt nauseated and kept apologizing to her between takes. Movies in 80s and 90s used to romanticize rich girl marrying poor boy against family’s wishes actually contrary to what Urjita is saying 53:55. Idk where she’s getting this - which movie showed a heroine regretting marrying a poor man from that era? Instead they usually had her learn values and simplicity by loving a poor man who fixes her rich snobbish ways usually. Usually the girl was rebelling for love and movies really made it seem believable

Epic! Have been waiting for baazigar to feature. Although it hasn't really aged well 😅 but this was start of SRK's reign. Just made me watch the movie (albeit in fast mode!) and come back to watch this episode! Totally true about "Power of Attorney" I have no idea why this movie was my favorite childhood movie, the first ever movie I watched in life and loved it apparently! Power of the songs!
